A proud father and husband, a shoulder for the lonely,  a veteran of The Gulf War occupied in Saudi Arabia where he met his wife and formed a family. He sacrificed his personal health for the safety of the unheard and was the first person to tell you something real when you needed to hear it. A true rock and roller, lover of music. Support was his middle name. Let's all roll one for our brother.

Victor a founder of San Antonio Mortuary who started the business with his parents Jesus and Maria Cortez.  He had a gift for embalming and restorative art, during his thirty-years in the funeral industry he assisted thousands of families in their time of need, he went above and beyond bringing comfort to families in the most difficult time of their lives.

He is preceded in death by his mother Maria D. Cortez, father Jesus Cortez Jr., grandfather Pascual De La Rosa, grandmother Celia De La Rosa.

He is survived by his wife Erin R. Cortez, son Victor Matthew Cortez (Jodie Blackwell), daughter Leah René Cortez, sisters Norma Fontenot, Elizabeth Cortez-Alcala, brother Albert Dennis, nephew Christopher Joseph Alcala, and mother in law Katherine Green,

A Memorial service will be held Monday April 25, 2022 from 3:00PM. to 8:00PM. with a Celebration of life to be held at 6:30PM. Tuesday April 26, 2022 at San Antonio Mortuary from 8:00AM. to 9:00AM. Inurnment will be held at 9:45AM. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
