He Only Takes The Best



God saw he was getting tired


And a cure was not to be.


So He put His arms around him


and whispered, "Come with Me"


With tearful eyes we watched him


And saw him fade away.


Although we loved him dearly,


We could not make him stay.


A golden heart stopped beating,


Hard working hands to rest.


God broke our hearts to prove to us


He only takes the best.

Vicente Garcia, Jr., born on October 28, 1939,

went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2025, at the age of 85. Vicente was born to Vicente Garcia, Sr.

and Isabel Cavazos and was one of three siblings.

He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1957. Shortly after graduation, he joined the National Reserves and served with the US Army. He was very proud to have served his country. In 1959, he met the love of his life, Gloria Rigal. Vicente and Gloria  married in 1962 and had three children. They were married for 63 wonderful years.

Vicente was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. He was also an amazing artist and craftsman. So many people inquired about his art that he would set up all his pieces at events and people would come out and purchase them. He was definitely one of a kind and in a class of his own. He was very well respected by everyone. People would often come to him for help and advice, and he was always ready to "tell it like it is" with no sugar coating. He looked forward to "Garcia Breakfast" on Sunday's. He would wake up, put on his mariachi music, and make a wonderful breakfast for him and his wife. Oftentimes there was also family over on Sunday's so everyone would get lucky and get to enjoy with them.

He will be sorely missed by everyone; however, his impact will leave a lasting Legacy for us all.

Vicente is preceded in death by his parents, Vicente Sr. & Isabel Garcia; brother, Ramon C. Garcia; granddaughter, Victoria Adame Garcia; father-in-law, Teodoro Rigal; and his mother-in-law, Rosa Romero Rigal.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gloria Garcia; children, Vicente Garcia III (Stacy), Suzanne Rodriguez (Alfred), and Estevan Marcos Garcia; grandchildren, Julia Melendez (John Paul), Alfred Rodriguez Jr. (Amy), Tiffany Rodriguez (Michael), Janessa Melendez, Vincent James Garcia, Alexandria Lopez, Chloe Lopez, Lauren Garcia, Esaias Garcia, Emmanuel Garcia, and Alicia Lofton; great grandchildren, Adryan Vela Jr., Aryanna Vela, Isabella Lopez, John Paul Lopez II, Michael Reyna Jr., Jackson Vicente Reyna, Arthur Medina III, Michael Folkens, Tony Ramirez, and Tristan Lofton ; sister, Maria Elena Martinez (Valentine); sister in law, Mary Martinez; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 5:30PM to 9:00PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM,

at Holy Name Catholic Church "3814 Nash Blvd Sa Tx 78223.

The family has requested that any memorial donation be made to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy, Texas.

The family would also like to give a heartfelt thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice for taking wonderful care of Vicente.
