Obituary

Maria Castillo Casias was born in Somerset, TX. on September 21, 1932 to Alfredo & Elvira
Casias. Maria "Mary" was a Sister, Aunt, Friend, Matriarch of our family, and a second Mother to
a lot of us. She left San Antonio, TX. to go home to the Lord on Saturday, January 23, 2021.
She is preceded in death by her parents Alfredo & Elvira, her brother, Roberto, and sisters,
Lucia Inez Casias and Eloisa Casias Moreno. She is survived by her siblings: Elvira, Minerva
(Raul), Eva, Lupe, Rudy (Elida), Josie (Henry), and Patsy (Cris), and numerous nieces and
nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mary was always involved in the church. She was a member of the Hijas de Maria, served as a
Lector and on the Altar Society, and was also on the ACTS leadership team at St. Clare
Catholic Church.
She was a loving and compassionate person. She was always there when we needed to talk or
cry. She made us laugh and shared in our laughter, but also took on our burdens. She shared
the joys, and highs and lows of each of our lives. We are saddened by her untimely death, and
we'll really miss her. She is now in a better place, her first home, and is sharing in the joy with all
those who have gone before her.
Aunt Mary didn't want any sadness on the day of her death. She wanted everyone to remember
the good times & know that she loved each and every one of you. She wanted everyone to
know that she'll always be here for us all.
We thank all the family members who have helped and that have given of themselves in caring
for Aunt Mary--you know who you are. We'd also like to thank VITAS Hospice and Senior Care
of Wurzbach for their excellent care and kindness, as well as, the home health care ladies who
assisted with her at the beginning of her illness. Peace be with you all. Rest in Peace Aunt
Mary...and as she always ended her greeting cards and letters-- "Smile God Loves you and so do I.
