It is with great sorrow to say that our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Janie Herrera, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was born in Von Ormy, TX on May 27, 1937 where she was raised by her parents Ramon & Refugia Guzman along with her six siblings. She and her husband Bobby of nearly 60 years, continued on to raise their own children and grandchildren on the same family farm.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents Ramon C. Guzman and Ruth G. Guzman; her husband Robert V. Herrera; her brothers Charles Guzman and Eugene Guzman; her sisters Irene Menchaca, Eva Rodriguez, and Lucille Rodriguez.
She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Raymond C. Guzman (Emily); her children Robert Joseph Herrera (Sylvia), Ronald Nemo Herrera (Teresa) and Roberta Uriegas; her grandchildren Dakota Herrera (Maddie), Stormy Herrera, Ethan Herrera, Michael Gonzales (Tiffany), Wayne Jenkins (Vanessa), Holly Jenkins (Stephanie), Kristin Arredondo (Teddy), Chris Jenkins (Karissa), Tyler Herrera, Briana Herrera (Aaron), Dylan Herrera, Chris Uriegas Jr., Reynaldo Uriegas, and Gilbert Uriegas (Heather); her great grandchildren Synica, Arian, Jaylynn, Mikaila, Adilynn, Laila, Maddox, Logan, Ashton, Ryder, Easton, Gracie; and best comadre Ramona Enriquez. There are numerous other loved ones including nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Janie grew up in the Von Ormy community all 83 years of her life. She worked for Southwest Independent School District for over 35 years as the Cafeteria Manager and was a lifetime parishioner of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was the number one fan of the San Antonio Spurs. Besides spending time with her family, her favorite past times included going to the casino, singing and dancing and making memories. She was very sweet, compassionate and made friends with everyone she met. She had a strong faith, very close relationship with God and prayed daily for all.
Janie Herrera will be forever missed and forever loved.
