Elena Esperanza Pacheco passed away on October 24, 2017 at the age of 80. Elena is preceded in death by her parents, Jose Gomez and Marta M. Gomez, Herman Pacheco, Michael Angel Rios, her siblings, Anita Vuncannon, Petra Gomez-Green, Josie Salazar, and Jose M. Gomez. Surviving siblings; Alfonso Gomez (Virginia), Roy G. Gomez, and sister Esther Gomez-Tristan.
Elena "Helen" is lovingly remembered by her three children, Herman Pacheco Jr (Teresa May), Miryam "Milly" Pacheco-Gregory and Michael Angel Pacheco (Angie Renee). Grandchildren; Bridell Miers (John Lee), Dariel Pacheco (Baldemar Perez), Cordell Pacheco, Jyrell Pacheco, Jacob Carlos Gomez-Gregory, and Patricia Hope Pacheco. Great-grandchildren: Cashius, Evander, Lennyx, and Mircer Perez all from San Antonio, TX. Elena's Uncles, Paul Medina, Alfonso Medina(Theresa), and Trinidad Medina. Numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews from North Carolina, Chicago, New York, and Texas. Elena was born in Laredo, TX in August 24, 1937. She attended Lanier High School. Elena earned her Cosmetology License at Johnson Beauty Salon in 1965. Elena worked at Johnson Beauty salon, Empire Beauty Salon, and eventually worked from home. Elena was a hair stylist and specialized in haircuts. Elena was offered to train at a New York hair styling studio (later to be known as Paul Mitchell), but declined in order to stay and raise her family in San Antonio. She also worked at San Antonio Shoe Company, was an Avon Consultant and was entrepreneurial with her skills in craft making.
Elena enjoyed fishing (fresh and salt water) berry picking in the tundra and mountains of Alaska, and making Tamales for Christmas. As mom retired, she spent her time traveling to Alaska for the summer, mom visited over 44 states, she loved her visit to Puerto Rico, New York, Cancun and Cozumel. Mom loved the beach life! Elena joined Urban 15 Senior group and played percussions. Elena attended La Estrellita Senior Center and moved on to Senior Center at District 5 where she spent her time with friends. Mom was an artist who loved painting on Canvas with oil paints. Helen loved her Spurs and Dallas Cowboys Fan 4 Life! The visitation and celebration of life will be held at San Antonio Mortuary, 703 Palo Alto Rd. San Antonio, TX 78211 on November 3, 2017. Visitation will be from 2:30pm for Family; Visitation for Friends of the family from 4:30 pm – 8:30pm. Memorial Service from 7:00 pm –08:00pm.
