Beatriz Smith, born on March 8, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas, entered eternal rest at the age of 80, on January 10, 2024. After graduating from Sidney Lanier high school, graduating from both Southeastern Oklahoma State University & Our Lady of the Lake University. Her teaching career began as an elementary school teacher on the Navajo Reservation from 1965 to 1982 and continued within the Edgewood school district from 1982 to 2007. Beatriz loved teaching and the children she taught. Aside from teaching, she enjoyed gardening, reading, noting poems and  writings that touched her and wanted to share with her children and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Daniel Rodriguez, Francisca Campos, Encarnacion Sanchez, Jovita Sendeja; parents, Maclovia Rodriguez and Jose Maria Sanchez and husband, Laurence Smith (married Aug. 27, 1965); siblings, Joe Sanchez and Teresa Klemmensen. She is survived by her children, Diana Smith, Sharon Cardona, Laurence Smith Jr.; Daughter-in-law, Barbara Smith; Son-in-law, Gabriel Cardona; Grandchildren, Kimberly, Laurence III & Janelle, Lauren, Savannah & Ralph, Timothy & Bryanna; Great-grandchildren, Noah, Aubrie; Sister Elva Sanchez; Brother Joe's family: Henri , Joseph, Robert, Melinda, Leslie, Mary, Joshua and their families; Rhetta & family, Damon Smith, Lois & family; Kermit Smith & family, Sherri Smith, Laughter Smith, Shaney & family, Dwight Smith & family; Sheila Greymountain & family, Lisa & family, Debbie & family, Scott Klemmensen & family and many cousins, nieces, and nephews in Texas, Iowa, South Dakota, California, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Wyoming. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
